Hi Bruce, welcome and thanks for uploading your photo - always nice to see who one's talking with. I think I could guess where you and I might disagree given my view of information technology as a less-than-viable long-term proposition for the MLM model :-)

I appreciate your advice for those looking at home business opportunities to be much more analytical in their assessment and decision-making processes. Your consumer advocacy background shines through. If only there were many more people like you.

Hi Pamela and welcome to the site.

The company you mention is a step above most in that it does indeed meet most of the due diligence items. It is to its credit that it's a member of the Direct Selling Association, and that it has a philanthropic heart.

However it is not one that I would join for 3 main reasons

1. It makes medical claims that are untrue, especially in regard to weight loss and detoxification (eg there is no proof whatsoever that the product when added to a low-calorie and exercise weight loss program makes any difference - but don't feel too bad, this is the same for every single weight loss product on the market today)
2. There is no meaningful statement of audited average earnings and instead the focus is on those rare individuals who earn at a high level
3. Its products are not sufficiently differentiated from other products on the market - there is simply way too much competition

Most people struggle to assess the "scientific evidence" offered by their company. That's not surprising because most people aren't scientifically trained. In this case you'd be looking for genuine 3rd-party trials that were well-designed, randomised, double-blind, controlled, crossover studies by reputable scientists at reputable universities. For instance in the case of the weight loss product, this would test the results of a product only group, a placebo only group, a product/low-cal/exercise group, a placebo/low-cal/exercise group, a low-cal/exercise only group, and a control group. I would be prepared to bet a zillion dollars that this has not been done (not even as a mouse study), and yet this is the minimum to be able to take such claims seriously. People get sucked in again and again by low-grade, flawed "studies", or worse still, get sucked in by a bucketload of testimonials.

From an analyst's point of view, choosing this company is a hard way to make a living. This company has no "killer product" that does something nothing else does - there is nothing unique. You are competing with every other health and wellness company out there. Yes you can make money if you have a good marketing system and good support, but it's highly unlikely to be a windfall for you, it will take a very long time, and you're up against millions of other people trying to achieve exactly the same thing. And unless you tell fibs, your message sounds exactly the same as everyone else's.

I hope this has been helpful and can only say "keep a close eye on your ROI" and don't throw money at this. If you're doing everything your support team is telling you, and conscientiously giving it your best shot, you should be making at least $1-2,000 a month by month 3-6. If that's not happening and yet you're coughing up money month after month, it would be time to rethink.
